Edinburgh is done and all the actors are here!

This year's Edinburgh festival has had a very healthy delegation from Alpha Actors. Lizzie, David, Abi and Nic proudly carried the Alpha flag up to Auld Reekie and have all safely returned.

Here's a quick roundup of the month's successes:

Lizzie has continued the success of Patch of Blue's 'We Live by the Sea' from 2016 with new work 'When we Ran'. Described as "a big story, with big themes", the show explores the weird world of secluded commune life with the help of "beautifully crafted" music. 'We Live by the Sea' continues its globetrotting run this month; the company are jetting off to China for two weeks in Beijing!

She also managed a whole other show (almost) entirely on her own! 'Carried Away' was performed on alternate nights by Lizzie and her co-writer Alexandra Simonet.

"Heartfelt, well-written and well-performed monologue"

David remounted the physical theatre piece 'My Mind is Free'. The show powerfully addresses the realities of human trafficking that still takes place all over the world, and at a rate of 125 victims per hour.

Already having recieved plaudits since it's conception in 2015 (Female Arts, East London Lines, WowKent) we can only speculate where this hard hitting piece of theatre will pop up next.

"Physical theatre and actors playing multiple roles at its finest"

Abi ventured forth with her solo-show 'The Principle of Uncertainty', carrying science and heartbreak in equal measure to the masses. She recieved critical acclaim and has also secured upcoming tour dates for the show!

"a real, genuine, hidden gem."

Nic shocked and amused with dark comedy, cabaret double-act 'The Twins Macabre: Playtime'. Several installments in, this creepy combination of song, dance and sketch is going from strength to strength and we can't wait for the next episode!

"an awful lot of fun, or a lot of awful fun

Anah is DEAD brilliant

Without even being alive on stage, Anah has wowed critics in 'LOOT'. Dubbed "the admirably selfless Anah Ruddin", she lends the productyion "a necrophiliac zest".

The run continues at the Park until the 24th Spetember, after which it transfers to the Watermill Newbury 28th Sept-21st Oct. Grab tickets while you can!

Guardian: 5 Stars

Abi is back from Edinburgh and is already shooting for the BBC

Abi has returned from her knockout Edinburgh run of 'The Principle Uncertainty'. The show recieved critical aclaim and has secured ongoing tour dates. We'll chalk it up as a success!

Abi has gone straight on to filming a scene for a BBC drama which we are sadly sworn to silence on. We'll certainly let you know more when the official secrets act allows us to.

Peter returns from adventure on the moors

Peter has returned from a month away on Exmoor performing 'The Importance of Being Earnest' and 'Lorna Doone' at the stunning outdoor venue at The Valley of Rocks.

The productions were staged as part of an annual occupation of the site by Pleasure Dome Theatre and recieved incredible support from locals and tourists alike.

Patsy starts rehearsals for new darkly comic play

Patsy Blower begins rehearsals for The Catastrophists which runs at the White Bear Theatre which runs from Tuesday 8th - Saturday 26th August.

The Castastrophists is a darkly comic play by Jack Stanley about Raf and Harry, a couple who arrive at their holiday home in the Cotswolds to be greeted by some very odd neighbours... an apocalyptic survivalist cult operating out of a field. Keen to make amends, Raf and Harry invite a couple from the cult over for the only friendly, middle class gesture they can think of - a dinner party.

As the evening progresses, however, they soon find themselves locked into a battle of ideas and principles that leaves them all questioning everything they stand for.

In an uncertain age where the threat of global disaster continues to linger, 'Castastrophists' is a play all about class, cooking and communes - and whether any of us are quite as civilised as we like to think we are.

All the best to Patsy - we can't wait to see it!

Anah Ruddin will be doing her best not to 'Corpse' as the body of Mrs Mcleavy in Joe Orton's 'Loot'

From the producers of Park Theatre sell-out hit The Boys in the Band comes another darkly comic masterpiece: Joe Orton’s classic farce Loot. Uproarious slapstick meets dubious morals as two young friends stash the proceeds of a bank robbery in an occupied coffin, attempting to hide their spoils from the attentions of a psychopathic policeman, a gold-digging nurse and a grieving widower.

Anah will be joining the cast of 'Loot' in the upcoming 50th anniversary run at the Park Theatre (17th Aug-24th Sept) and the Watermill (28th Sept-21st Oct)! She will be appearing as the corpse of Mrs Mcleavy, a surprisingly active role considering the state of the character's health.

This fiftieth anniversary production is directed by Michael Fentiman, whose credits include two acclaimed shows for the Royal Shakespeare Company as well as the recent Park Theatre critically-acclaimed hit, Raising Martha.

Nic's Feature Film to be screened at the Prince Charles Theatre

Nic Lamont plays the lead Catherine Sweeney in 'Egomaniac', a horror comedy feature film.

Egomaniac will be screened on Monday 31st July at the Prince Charles Theatre  followed by a Q&A with director Kate Shenton.

About the film:

A satirical dark comedy with a grizzly horror twist, Egomaniac is the second feature film by writer/director Kate Shenton. Catherine Sweeny is determined to make a zombie horror romantic comedy but everybody in the industry keeps telling her she needs to put a talking dog in the film. Desperate to make a dream project Catherine goes to any lengths to make a film but too much compromise can kill.

Egomaniac had its world premiere at Fright Fest 2016 and has screened at Philadelphia Unnamed Film Festival , Boston Horrorthon, IFC Horrorthon, Lund International Fantastic Film Festival, RIP Horror Festival LA, Unrestricted View Horror Festival, Overkill Film Festival, Dundead and Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival.

Abi is Jetsetting... to Turkey then Edinburgh!

It's nothing but the high life for our actress Abi McLoughin who is flying to Turkey next week to shoot a commercial for Thompson Holidays!

This will be a pre-Edinburgh jaunt for Abi who afterwards heads immediately to the Fringe for her one-woman play:

'The Principle of Uncertainty'. (Venue: Sweet Holyrood from 2nd-27th August.) The conceit of the show is a fascinating wonder-filled physics lecture -with a heart-wrenching twist you wouldn't see coming in this universe!

Abi McLoughlin is such a brilliant performer that a couple of minutes in, I actually didn’t care if this was a play or an actual lecture.-  Londontheatre1.com
